How to export your transactions from CIBC
CIBC CANADA has NO verified consumer OFX/Web Connect identity. The authoritative Intuit fidir.txt contains ONLY 'CIBC Bank USA - Business Banking' (Intuit BID 04031, us.cibc.com - the separate US commercial arm); there is NO Canadian CIBC Web Connect/INTU.BID entry, and CIBC is absent from ofxtools fi.cfg. CIBC's Canadian consumer Direct Connect has long been unavailable; its modern QuickBooks path is OAuth 'CIBC SmartBanking for Business' feeds into QuickBooks Online, not a downloadable file identity. So for Canadian CIBC: ORG='', FID='0', intuBid='', confidence=none (do NOT reuse the US 04031, do NOT fabricate). Practical path = CSV -> QFX/QBO conversion. EXPORT (CIBC Online Banking, Canada): Sign on > open the account Activity for the bank or credit-card account > 'Download Transactions' > set a date range > choose CSV or QFX. NOTE CIBC does NOT let you download full official monthly statements as CSV - only recent account activity; for archived statements users must convert the PDF. CSV QUIRKS: personal chequing/savings activity exports use a compact layout - Date, Description, and an Amount where SIGN indicates direction (credit vs debit in a single column), plus a running Balance; some exports/credit-card exports instead present SEPARATE debit (out) and credit (in) columns; headers are often ABSENT. Date is usually YYYY-MM-DD (ISO) but can appear DD/MM/YYYY - parse defensively. When converting, collapse debit/credit to one signed OFX amount. Date format: default YMD with DMY fallback.
Once you have the file, drop it into the converter above. LedgerBridge auto-detects the date, amount and description columns — adjust the mapping if needed, choose QBO for QuickBooks (or QFX for Quicken, OFX for Xero), and download.
Tips for CIBC files
- Choose DD/MM/YYYY as the date format if auto-detect guesses wrong.
- If withdrawals come in as positive numbers, tick “Flip amount sign”.
- For credit-card exports, set the account type to Credit card.
- If QuickBooks rejects the file, open Advanced and confirm the INTU.BID — selecting “CIBC” in the bank dropdown autofills it.

Is my CIBC data uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser. Your statement and account number never leave your device — safe even for client confidentiality requirements.
Will the file import into QuickBooks?
Yes. We generate a valid OFX 1.0.2 (SGML) document with the correct header and identifiers. Convert a small file free first to confirm it imports cleanly, then unlock unlimited.
